We all seek clear actionable answers. They are naturally comforting because they remove our doubts and they give us a direction to work on. It’s a deadly combination.

And in our rush to work on the answers, we tend to give less time thinking through the question. In fact, the right question.

A great question or a right question is one, that puts everything in the right perspective. It forces us to take the most appropriate approach, where we are able to maximise our precious resources such as time and energy.

And it allows us to unlock opportunities, that we never thought existed before.

Questions actually come before the answers. Answers do not come before the questions. And hence if we are able to answer the right question, it can take us to a place which we never thought existed before.

For the same time and energy that we use, we could be in a very different place, by just working on the right question.

A right question hence is like a compass – it guides us in the right direction all the time, irrespective of how situation is changing on the ground because it is not tied to very specific inputs.

A right question is also like an elastic band – it visibilises the creative tension that we are trying to solve for and hidden within which is the answer itself.

Right question is like a furnace – it literally fires us and powers us.

It can ignite passion, purpose and energy in an individual and teams.

Which question are you solving for today. Give it some more time and think through is it the right question.

Because once you find the right question, while the answers will come easily and automatically, but the place they will take you will be very different from the place you thought you would end up being.
