Talent gets the spotlight

While character stands backstage

Talent may be your differentiator

But character is your guarantee

If you had to promote someone as Commander of a nuclear submarine – trusted with the launch key

What would be non-negotiable for you – talent or character

If you were hiring a night watchman

What would be the deciding factor

If you wanted a friend

What would your intuition say

Yet we value otherwise

Talent, like the sails of a boat, gives momentum when the going is good

Character, like the anchor, keeps you steady when the storm eventually hits the boat

Next time welcome Character first on stage

Talent will follow.
